My mids are not as loud as I though......

i dont think they did, is what im saying about just simply splicing into the original speaker leads with an amped signal possible to make install easier?

But that's just dumb to do. Why splice into the factory shit? I would do a chargeback, and get somebody off of here to do it for you. You could learn and do at the same time.

They should have never touched the factory stuff. They could have taped it down out of the way or anything. Now when and if you change cars, you have to go back and undo what they did just to put the factory shit back in there.

Phase is extremely important. If some speakers are out of phase you will not get the proper 'loop power' going to your speakers, components ect.It is fine to wire tweeters in reverse phase, but both of them need to be done, not just one.In effect the + wire might be on the + side of the speaker on your amp,but the + wire may be on the - side of the speaker, now multiply that improper wiring x 4. A shop when correcting this problem can do it with a volt-ohm meter and or by ear--1 channel at a time, the sound will become louder and clearer as things are cleared up.It's kind of like jumping a car the wrong way,but you don't burn up the motor.Good Luck ..Alpine50....................

I can tell no one in this thread has ever installed professionally.
With the exception of a couple people on the first page.
what do you mean by that? i think ive given some informed advice. i may not have installed professionally but i know right from wrong and charging someone 600 bucks and doing sub par work is wrong.

That is the industry standard. The wire is more than sufficient, as proven multiple times to the op. If you wanted all new wire he should have stated such and would have had to pay extra. If someone doesnt like it, they should do it themselves, which I recommend anyways.

They shouldnt have kept his wire and maybe tuned a little better but most shops will always crank sub gains since customers want bass heavy systems as a whole.

x2.... I know it's lazy as shit to splice into anything factory on a 600 dollar job. I also know it's wrong to steal the guy's knu wires and use that cheap shit on top of that.

Yes it was wrong to keep his wire. 9 wire is actually very expensive. And you dont know shit about labor costs then.

industry standard? to tap into the factory wiring so that now he cant go back to his oem radio without even more modifications? hell ive had friends work at CC and BB that wouldnt even do that.

for the amount of money he just told me on IM that he paid for each individual thing wire should of definitely been covered. he payed way too much for the shitty install he got.

its just pathetic you cant trust people. i bet if he would of bought all their stuff his install would of come out alot better. plus he STOLE all but 10 feet of a knukonceptz wiring kit. thats illegal.....

Dude, I got mine done for 2 AND THEY WIRED MY DOORS AND USED MY WIRE. That Monster 16ga thx in my sig runs through my car. I checked. I did have a 100 foot roll that looked kinda short.....lol. But when I got mine done, I gave them a bag of everything they would have needed.

Labor costs on a half assed job like he got? If what the OP says is true, can you honestly say that job was worth the 6? Hopefully that pdx was included in the install.

To me they used the bare minimum on his install. and that ain't right.

Hey man then go for it. Amex will do the chargeback but then they can go after you for theft, not criminal but in civil manner, since they did the job you paid them to do and can prove it. Not to mention that is a chicken shit thing to do. But hey if it makes you sleep at night. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Most places will do the bare minimum. Its your job as the customer to inform them if you want something out of the norm done. If he would have stated this, than I would be all for it. But again, if you want it done right you should do it yourself. Shops will only do just enough.

Labor rates will vary greatly by market. Not to mention the install wasnt 6 considering the speaker wire and any other parts used, shop fees and tax were all included in that, not to mention what else. Im guessing labor was around 4-450 for which isnt terrible for a dvd deck, (my old shop would charge 150), 4 speakers (100-150) depending on car and two amps (150-200).

And I just saw some 9 wire at Menards today. The shit is not that expensive.

As high as crutchfield is, you can get 20 feet for 40 bucks. So they must have charged hom 10 times that amount plus 200 more on top of that for the shitty install. I don't even see how you are justifying this
