My mids are not as loud as I though......

And I just saw some 9 wire at Menards today. The shit is not that expensive.
As high as crutchfield is, you can get 20 feet for 40 bucks. So they must have charged hom 10 times that amount plus 200 more on top of that for the shitty install. I don't even see how you are justifying this
Im not justifying the install, it definitely could be neater, but they technically did the job they were paid to do. At least why not let them clean it up and tune it? But a chargeback? Thats not right either.

And $2 bucks a ft isnt expensive? Not to mention its probable double/triple that at the shop?

he didnt say he was definitely doing the chargeback. only if they basically told him to **** off when he went in and complained.

yea since he paid if he just does a charge back then they can go after him for theft since it shows he paid

i wouldnt of paid if they didnt fix the stuff i seen was wrong and i would of looked at the work before i left the shop also and no fix no money that simple

usually you pay first and he didnt know what he was doing when he went in there so he wouldnt of known what to check. he figured since he paid "professionals" to do it they did a "professional" job. most of us that know what to look for would of probably done it ourselves anyways.

It is sad that crappy installers outnumber those installers that take pride in their work. This industry, like many now a days, are less concerned about service and more about money then ever. Thus leaving it up to the customer to research for themselves before committing to paying for any kind of service or product. Thankfully with the advent of the internet that is relatively easy now.

I paid the installer $580 for wiring of 2 amps through distro block, 4 speakers and DVD headunit. I provided 1/0 Knu power wire and they used this shit 20 maybe 22 gauge to wire the speakers. They didnt even wire them entirely, they wired that shit from the amp to the ORIGINAL FACTORY wires behind the headunit!
Did you ever think that maybe your components are being powered by your head unit, and not your amplifier?

I'd re-wire your components directly to your amplifier before you tried anything else. Get some 16 guage while you're at it.

how is that possible when the speaker wires are connected to the amp

edit- or do u think they just ran the wires to a dead end and didnt connect them if he thinks that then just turn the amp off and see if the speakers turn off as well

Also, another possibility is that you set your gains incorrectly. The birthsheet probably reads 100x4 at 2 ohms. But your speakers are probably 4 ohm drivers. Check your math and see if you accounted for the proper impedence (4).

If you don't want to go through that trouble, or find that you did use the correct impedance, crank your system to full tilt (hard rock / metal works well for this test) and slowly turn your gains up. Do you hear any distortion? If you keep turning and everything still sounds crystal clear, then you probably just set your gain too low due to an error in your calculations!

its a PDX, 100x4 at either 4 or 2ohms

im calling them at 10am

OK called them didnt get anywhere as expected. They said that 18gauge wire was sufficient and that using the factory wiring in the doors was OK as well. I disagreed. They said I can come by and pick up the wire that they TOOK from me. He felt that its OK that I cant put the stock stuff back in and that's the way everyone would have done it.

He kept saying that it was installed correctly.

I called AMEX, have a dispute open with them, the payment was withheld from them. It will take 6-8 weeks for a resolution.

The installer said that because I signed the receipt I have no backing, AMEX disagrees.

Amex for the win!

I will keep you updated.

What do you think will happen?

Cant you just go back and tell them to do reinstall since you're unhappy? Most business would re-do the work until your happy, especially when you paid a premium for the install. And I assume your crossovers are set correctly (HU/amp)? Also don't forget to file a complaint with BBB if they continue to refuse to re-wire.

It seems they didnt want to run the wires through the door so they just ran wires from the amp to the into the factory harness of speakers and spliced it from there. Tell them you want the wires from the amp straight to the speakers. Should've learned to install it yourself, it pays off to know that you have the setup the way you want it to be."

Also, you mentioned everything is amplified? I only see 4 speakers being powered, Ch 1-4 each have one speaker connected. So you're missing another set of speaker wire to amp. Looks like one set of speakers are being powered by HU.

At worst, you'd be in court for fraud, but you never know. You did ask them for a resolution and they did not.

But wiring the doors is how I and **** near everyone here would have done it. But you do have to either request it, or ask if it's part of the process. I always ask up front, if they give me some high *** price and say that's not included, I choose another place to do my shit. Sounds like you did not do that. You gave them your car and let them work their magic. They more than likely tapped your harness with that 9 wire and ran it to the back. I don't have a dvd Hu, so I cannot say how much one of those is to hook up.

You may have to buy some wire and hook this up yourself. Someone did say that your HU might be powering those comps. Look into that.

And are you sure you're not having power issues? My battery died on me once and in the process, I was getting hardly anything out of the speakers.

What do you mean? There are 4 speakers being powered and 4 outputs on the amp that are connected?

Ill do that BBB complaint now!
