my job and the pay the offer...

well ive only been there a month and a half, i dont expect a raise for normal pay work, but if its doing things that arent put into the job description i think you should get some kind of a tip for that time spent doing the dirty work. not everyone sticks around and cleans the pit in the rain, and not ***** while doing it. the reason it was done so quick is cuz i worked my *** off doing it, just to get done and home. we dont have the gainsharing thing, and the manager has only been there the same length i have really. hes a total douchebag most days and retardedly immature on other days.

wowimzz, i clean the tunnel EVERY NIGHT except saturdays as im off. i do it because i like doing one thing for a longer period than 10 things for shorter times. thats just how i am. get my deal done and leave i guess. but the tunnel cant be done until right at 6. even if i didnt want to do it its come like my closing deal to do it. dont really mind, more money cuz its more hours. the tunnel is the dirty work compared to everything else. gets you noticed if u dont do prep and u still do the tunnel. i try to work the best i can but i kinda saw it out of proportion to do this type of work when im really there to just vaccuum out soccer moms vans.

my advice is never ask for the tip for doing work thats included in your basic job description, when you go out of your way everyday for a while without being asked then i would say bug his *** til you get that raise.......

maybe u dont know how to read, but i believe its been stated a lot already that this was NOT in my job discription.

you know you may not be in a union but you can still call OSHA if you feel that your employer was puting you in an unsafe condition. sending you to clean a sewer with out the Propper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). also i would talk to the manager about what exactly is in your job description. and if you can get a writen copy of it.

Lucky bastards have a job description...must be nice. Mine is a piece of paper that says "What I tell you to do."

I made the mistake of asking for one. After I told my boss it was for a class, and I didn't think that would work, he listed some things, but few applied to the work I actually do.

I wouldn't worry about it. Hell, I cleaned restrooms third shift for a truck stop for a little while to catch up on some bills. Can't be too proud to do things to make the $$.

i dont want to go and talk to him and him be like....wtf get out and dont come back cuz i do actually enjoy the job. the carwash gets new employment offers daily, so if i lose my job its to no loss for them. id rather keep my paychecks weekly and steady pay for the most part than lose it for asking a question/complaining to a certain organization to be honest.

I thought you left ?
I did, but came back to look for an amp, and decided there was a good reason to stay. If someone is bothering me, then I can simply ignore them, this board does have an ignore feature doesn't it? No reason to impede my desire to learn electronics and CA&E just because of some douches, right?

saywhat, i know what you are going through, because ive went through it. I worked at a carwash for 2 years. I've done the same thing you have-clean out the pit. But evernight that i had to close, I had to wait untill after we had actually closed to cleanup. We would close at 9, and i would often be there untill at least 9:30. I also started at $6.00. But we had this program called gainsharing. It was based on sales, labor, and hours. If we had more sales then labor in a given month, then we got to split up the money. The more you made hourly, and the more hours you got, the more money you got from them. With this "gainsharing" program, i averaged at about 8.00 an hour for the month. Our busy time was in the winter, so during then i often averaged about 10.00. While i was there i had received 2 raises. The first raise was the biggest raise that any high school student had recieved at $.40. My next raise was a whopping $.10. The first year i busted my *** at work, came in for other people, was always 10-15 minutes early for my shift, rarely missed work, and I had become my managers first choice to call if somebody had come in sick. If i were you, i would ask for something like a $.25 raise. But dont just go up to your manager and be like: Damit! I want a raise. You need to have a clear mind, get him at a slow point of the day, and tell him the reasons why you deserve a raise. If that doesnt work, then tell him your going to find a better job. If he doesnt give you a raise after you give him factual reasons and such then its not worth working there.

Couldnt have said it better myself. + rep for you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

A little more advice I could give is that 6 dollar an hour jobs are everywhere. So if you dont like what they are making you do, then get out and find something else. I know some peeps have been hard on you in this thread, but you kinda asked for it. Take the good with the bad man and keep your head up, something will look up, just have to work hard and stand out. Good luck!
