well i'll start off by sayin, on a normal day i like my job but i think the pay could be better. well today it rained and all, so it wasnt really a "normal" day as it IS a carwash. well the manager always tells us "i have plenty of money to give yall if you earn it blablablablabla" so were like all busting *** as always tryna get a raise, or atleast a tip from customers. since it rained today we did the whole clean up deal. oddly enough i got the ***** work end of the stick. the middle of the car wash has a metal grates that let the water flow into the sewer deal, but the dirt and grime and mud and shit goes in as well from the under carriage of cars. so every so often it needs to be cleaned. well i got the job of cleaning out "the pit". he gave me boots, but had to borrow gloves from a fellow co worker and he said get goin. i stood there like.....................your kidding right? hes like, better hurry if u wanna get done by 6. so i get to work and all, shoveling literally shit out of this drain into a wheel barrel. it took a good hour or so of straight bust *** work.

should i ask for my raise? should i tell him to atleast put a sign up saying we are allowed to accept tips in the vaccuum section of the car wash?

but my real question is, what would you guys expect to get payed to do that? JUST that, if u did that as your job how much would u expect to get for each session of doing it?

well, they said "your in vaccuum, you can work your way up to detail" so i took it as i do vaccuum and shit that does with it. never was i told "u will have to do dirty labor/unsanitary labor"

you would be suprised how many people get mad cuz we ask them to remove their antennas as there is a chance for damage, so i dont think people in mississippi know that your supposed to tip.

doesn't matter...if you work there you may be responsible to help maintain the equipment. unless you have a union job you are pretty at the mercy of your employer

I'm guessing you're at a very informal type of employer, where you do what ever tasks need accomplished. In which case, I don't see any reason to expect anything above or beyond your regular wages for doing any type of job within your scheduled hours. Hell, I do stupid off-the-wall crap at my job all the time (change light bulbs, salt the walkways in winter, etc) when it's clearly not in my job description (professional office job).
