Edit: Always wear your safety gear. I wasn't moving in this photo...just posing for the camera for my fiance //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif I NEVER ride without jacket, armor installed, boots, helmet.
Thats a nice bike!

I always pictured you to look a lot different for some reason, but hey I get that a lot too, lol!

I am one that always tells people that it dont matter what size bike you get. I have had what a one time was considered a super bike back in the day in the Honda Hurricane 1100 as my first bike. I got a heck of a deal on it and could not pass it up. If you can be smart about it then just lay off the throttle. If you are easily tempted, then dont waste your time with it and get something smaller. Thing is those 250 ninja's will get over 100 decently, hell most bikes will, so its just about using your smarts. I laid mine down once and sold it wishing now that I didnt.

Going to be looking soon, maybe even this summer if I can find a good deal on one. Thing is I might want a crusier instead of a crotchrocket this time.

bigger bike = easier to keep upgright....
and that has absolutly nothing to do with moter size (for instance- the kawi 650 is physically smaller than its 500cc bretheren, adn for a while the 1000 cc version was smaller than the 750!)

truely and honestly- you really should start on a smaller bike. as mentioned before- way better to learn on, and they do keep their value...I actually started on a 750, and sorely regret it now (and no- i didnt crash, and havent after 6yrs of riding) I guess if you want to be a fool and start on a big bike- might as well just get a turbo busa and get it over with. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif good luck either way....

That reminds me of my sister's bf. He thought he could just go for it when he first started...ended up tearing the shit out of our 80cc mini bike and hitting my dad's jeep and flipping it backwards up a gravel hill. And after that he crashed a friend's 125cc motocross bike riding on the street, as well as a friend's R6...and he is saving up to buy his own bike //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
Tell him to go all out and get an 1100cc. Let natural selection sort things out.

Yeah, I'm an ugly mug :p I love my bike. You are not too far away from me so if you really start looking let me know what you are looking for and a price range. We find GREAT deals all the time.

I'm still thinking that a 250, with his body weight, will be too small (not to mention he is over 6'). I've said it a few times, the SV650 would be pretty much a perfect bike for you. Should just go test ride one (once you can ride).

My first bike was an 1100cc. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif
I wish I never sold that bish!
From the look of it you never totalled 3 other bikes before starting. I'm not trying to be cynical, but there are some people fit to ride bikes and some people not fit to ride bikes. If he's that reckless, he needs something to give him a wake up call that he's not fit to ride a bike. If that means a concussion and some broken bones and a totalled bike, so be it.

Tomorrow I'm off to the local Honda dealer. I didn't know existed in driving distance. I'll be out to find a 250cc cruiser for around $2000. If I find one, I'll totally forego what I've said and start small like I want to. I *would* just buy a Lifan LF250 as they are $1900 new, but I'm worry about the quality of a Chinese bike - even if it's a clone of a Yamaha Virago.
