My first install gone horribly wrong. Please help with whining issues.

Off-Topic but what is the purpose of doing the RCA's like that in the pic, I've never seen that done before.
But what do I know.
It seems that some of the pioneers suffer from a bad internal ground for the RCA's or suffer from an easily blown internal fuse for the RCA's. Grounding it by yourself allows for a more reliable, more complete grounding solution.

Did you ground both amps to the same point? If not, you might have a ground loop. You could use these or similar parts to be sure you fix it correctly.http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=263-674

Yes, both amps are grounded to the same point in the floor of my trunk.

Would grounding my HU to my battery be something that I should try?

By the way, here are pics of my RCA grounding. It didn't help.

May be a stupid question (since its not pictured) but you did run the ground to the case of the HU, correct?

Easiest thing to try is to run a ground wire from your battery outside and around through the door to the interior, instead of going through the firewall or something, to test it.

The problem is the ground of hte HU itself, not the RCAs or the amps. The supprt bracket you grounded to is most likely very poorly electrically connected to the chassis of the vehicle. Re ground the HU to the actual sheetmetal of the car. Don't worry if you have to extend the wire a bit, the improvement of the actual ground point will decrease the ground resistance much more than a foot or two of copper wire will increase it.

With the ghetto wrapping, make sure you grounded it to the frame of the HU.If not, try and come back.Or try removing it.

And pioneer HU's are known to have bad internal grounds for the RCA's.It may or may not be your problem.

And try re-grounding.

yes, the ghetto wrap is definately grounded to the frame of the HU.

I will try doing the battery ground test through my window. I will let you guys know in a little while what happens.

THANKS!!

You all call it ghetto wrapping ... but my HU is still running with it and it works great. I haven't had alternator whine since I wrapped them over 6 months ago. Best thing about it, is when you do it you forget that you have done it. Much better than buying a new HU. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

Okay, I ran a 14 gauge wire from the HU ground to the battery. Did not help at all.

I also have tried running a source directly to my amp's RCAs. No noise.

Any more ideas, I'm so stumped.

New deck time! I had the same exact problem your having years ago with my DEH-2600 and pretty much tryed everything including the ground wire from battery outside the car to the HU. Switched to a alpine, never looked back.
