Not bad for a first box, even put some type of bracing....

My first box died on the first thump:hilariou:

LEAPS and BOUNDS better than my first box! Actually, I still have it. Built it for an RE 8 and its so lame that I never even tried it out. HA HA HA. I'll post some pics if I can find it.

Y'all have already seen some of my first boxes (not THE first though). //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

go get some 3/4" mdf. You will be a lot better off. Buy a countersink bit if you insist on using screws. You can predrill your box and countersink the hole at the same time. Use wood glue. Than silicone the inside. Dont use terminals cups if you dont have something to make a perfect hole for the cup. Use bolts with 2 nuts on the inside and 2 on the outside. Seals up a lot better and you put it in after the carpet is on it if you choose to carpet.

Not too bad for a first time. If you are planning on building your own boxes and want to buy some tools to do it easier i would use a brad nailer. You can find a cheap one at tool stores for around 40 bucks or so and just use screws for the speakers. I just use regular wood glue and then brad nail the pieces about every 3 inches and use silicone on the inside corners. When the silicone dries it will make the box as stiff or stiffer as screws. I would leave the liquid nails on the shelf. Good luck. Keep trying you may just be suprised at what you can do.

Good job for a fist box. Like its been said.. "Gotta start somewhere" At least you have the balls to try it yourself and not puss out and go buy a pre-fab. Next one well be better and the next one even better. Practice makes perfect. Keep it up!!!!

ahh, the old lemans boxes //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ImportDude: like they said 3/4mdf, and if you want to go an extra step, round your corners and make little triangles for bracing.

Good job on the use of bracing with the 1st build.

Countersinking the screws would help a lot, but I don't use screws anymore. I use clamps. If your cuts are good, it will hold pretty good. From what I understand screws just help clamp the wood together. The bond from the glue > bond from the screw.

Also, don't use liquid nails. It is messy and I end up wasting much more than using wood glue.
