i let them put a whole lot of lidocaine in it before they change the dressing and i take 2mg of IV dilaudid before they do it. THat's be about like taking 9 vicodin all at once.
One good thing I thing i can say about this experience, is that the surgeon knows about pain management. Working as a med tech in a nursing home i see people dying on hospice who dont have orders this good.
This thing is a painful azz bish, but some doctors would just make you suffer. Luckily mine is compassionate enough to have me on doses of pain meds usually reserved for end of life pain and for people with chronic pain issues who have been opiate tolerant for years.
Nonetheless, i really thought that not working and having no responsibilities while laying in bed eating dilaudid and valium all day, for weeks at a time, was going to be a lot more like a vacation than the isolating nightmare it actually is...
When you hurt your back, or get sick and have prescription cough syrup... its kinda nice to lounge around all warm and fuzzy in bed for a day or two... but it gets really old quick... i just dont understand how the junkies do it?!
