My (Dirty) Install

Well I got my new TC-1000s and Power Acoustik amps in this week and I just happened to have this weekend off so install time it was.

Before any of you all pass judgment let me just say this was my second install Ive ever done, the other one being very basic (HU, 1 amp, 2 6x9s).

The orginal plan was to have my current front and rear stage plus a new set of tweeters run off of the Power Acoustik sl4-1000 4x80w amp. And of course have my new TC-1000s run off the Power Acoustik SL-2000d. Unfortunately it didnt turn out that way, for the life of me and my wife (who was helping with the install) could not figure out the wire runs for the front door 6x8s. We could see where they passed from the door into the cabin, but in the cabin we could not pick them back up.

So we said screw it, we'll leave the front and rear stage running off the HU and we have 2 Rockford 8's laying around and 2 Rockford 6 1/2s. The 6 1/2s are in my back deck running 2 ohm with my new 3/4 tweeters, the 8s are running bridged 2ohm.

The new TC-1000s are running 1 ohm off the SL-2000d.

Anyways pics of the trunk install. (excuse pic quality, taken with my phone)

Anyways the install isnt 100% by anymeans. As you can tell I need to do some cable routing. And the inside I still have to run the cables for the Tweets and recarpet my rear deck.

What yall think?

I don't think the 8's are a good mix with your other subs. Just my opinion. I will say your phones pic quality is actually pretty good!

I'm not downing you on the pre-fabbed box because *coughs* I have one *coughs*, but you will get much better output with a box designed for the subs.

Hopefully the 8's wont be there much longer, It was getting late and work was coming up. Next time I get some decent amount of time off im hoping i can finally get my 6x8s wired up and get rid of the 8s. Also hope to get a new pair of 6 1/2s as what we put in there is about 6-7 years old. But this weekend off was the first in almost a year so I was just lucky to get done what i got done.

first of all, nice choice in subs.

second of all,

why do you even have anything but subs in your trunk anyway? why even put speakers back there?

do you sit in your trunk when you drive around? if you do, then by all means i suppose.

i recommend not putting anything back there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Their arent any speakers in the trunk unless you consider the 8's speakers (which are temporary). The 6 1/2s are on the trunk deck, you can barely make one out on the 2nd picuture. The tweets are going to be mounted to my dash, right now they are sitting up there, wires run (still need to hide it), just not mounted yet.

How does it sound BTW? False floor wouldn't be a bad idea at all.

Love the subs too! If your good with wood, build a box, these guys on here can design some really great stuff for you.

As it stands I am actually pretty good with woodworking....But I have zero tools and even less time. The prefab I got because I knew I had this weekend off, I wanted everything in there and good to go, which ment no time to order a custom box. The prefab also fit the sub recommendations to a T almost. Its .05 cu feet to large and tuned to 32hz just as recommended by TC sounds. So it was a perfect fit for the time being.

In the future I may be looking for someone to make a customer box, but as it stands this one works just fine.

8s also now removed, bass response from what I could test actually sounds tighter if not quite as loud.
