i have concerns about the BTL 12 in particular. Chevyaudio has the same sub and we've noticed some things about it's design. I hope it's just the 12 though.

There has to be something wrong.I was doing VERY close to a 142 (high 141's) with 1200 watts and a pure daily driving box.

Edit: Forgot to mention, single 12"

Do you have access to another SPL sub, If so try it out. There is something Wrong somewhere. Troubleshoot it.

Well we dropped in a Dual 2 RE SX12 in his car a few weeks and IIRC it was only several tenths off what the BTL was doing.

Chevy noticed that the cone hit the spider pretty early. By early, I mean in a proper box, way below RMS. Free air, you can see what the problem is. It looked liked it might have something to do with the angle of the cone not being high enough to miss the spider. Maybe the 15" doesn't have that issue. It is audible.
