Ummm, no it's not.I'd rather have a nicely built, bare box than put THAT carpet on there. It's better than no carpet like some people have.
I'm rockin the bare MDF covered in glue. Performance > looks. It's better than no carpet like some people have.
does it have a backing? i'm guessing so...yeah i know the carpets at bit fuzzy but its also my first time working with carpet, and that shit is thick and tough to cut.
Yeah it has backing, I dunno I just had this carpet around from our house build, and I thought why not? And maybe plywood wasn't the best bet. But heck i'm going to try it out and see what happens, If it sounds bad, i will make a new one. W/E i'm bored.does it have a backing? i'm guessing so...
carpet with backing = no no for carpeting enclosures.
here's a tip...http://partsexpress.com
get the carpet w/o backing in w/e color and quantity you need....you can't beat their prices and shipping imo....
well the backing is what killed you....it's no fun to work with.Yeah it has backing, I dunno I just had this carpet around from our house build, and I thought why not? And maybe plywood wasn't the best bet. But heck i'm going to try it out and see what happens, If it sounds bad, i will make a new one. W/E i'm bored.
Some boxes look better without carpet. For example, Iamamp3pimp's birch boxes look pretty awsome without carpet. Bare MDF boxes looks really good with rounded edges and no screws. I always use carpet because I don't like to show the screws. Not that bad of a job for a first attempt; think of it as a learning experience. It's better than no carpet like some people have.
Plywood isn't just "not the best bet"... it's flat out the wrong material. A sheet of 3/4" MDF is $22.... the proper carpeting is ~$10...Yeah it has backing, I dunno I just had this carpet around from our house build, and I thought why not? And maybe plywood wasn't the best bet. But heck i'm going to try it out and see what happens, If it sounds bad, i will make a new one. W/E i'm bored.
I did, with basic woodworking skills, mdf, and carpet from walmart like 10 years ago, it was for a radio shack 8" ported lolGive me a ****ing break, its my first box. Like you built a perfect box on your first try.
