How about the old school loaded RF enclosures? I remember one of these in a hatchback and it was pretty loud. Or the potent little 8.3 micro subs from JL. Whatever happened to Q-Forms kick panel pods?

MTX made some similar enclosure to thar RF. They'd get loud AF with 150wrms/channel.

It's funny how back in the 90's we had a pair of subs that would pound the crap out of our ears, and we were only running 2-12's off a 250 watt amp. Now, we find anything less than 1000 watts is weak. Heck, I've shattered windows with 800 watts, granted, they were both Hondas and it was a hot day.

That's because under perfect conditions 27% more power nets you 1db. As the coil heats up, you may need +50% or more power to get +1db. As we build heavier subs, we lose efficiency, so if you lose 1.5db in efficiency to double power handling, you only net 1.5db or maybe less. Law of Diminishing Returns meets Hoffmans Iron Law.
