my civic wall..pics!

tis my baby, turbocharged 1968 mustang. at one time was ballin with fiberglass kicks and a fiberglass box but its being made into more of a race car, the turbo kills gas mileage
You TURBOED a 68 mustang?!?!?!?!

How DARE you. Infidel! Heretic! Heathen!

It should be supercharged or nothing. Big roots-type blower.

Perhaps he should grow a mullet as well??! A turbo is non-parasitic and puts power where you want it. Of course both have pros and cons and intended applications will still dictate which you use. I have contemplated boosting my goat with a turbo. While I'm at it, I may get one for my car too.

Do you have anymore build pics? I was wondering where you put the amp in relation to everything else. I don't want to build a wall, but I know it's coming...thanks for the good influences.

Sorry, I know you meant gto, but I just had an amusing visual of a goat running at breakneck speeds with his head down trying to headbutt someone! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

you turbo'd an american muscle car? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

yes i know it's already been said.

he needs to be repremanded multiple times for this action.

Exactly. And to IAmDeMan (brilliant name by the way:rolleyes:): mullets weren't even around in the age of Detroit muscle. If we were talking about throwing a turbo in an IROC, then that comment would be valid. But that's not what we're talking about. So STFU.

well if it makes you guys feel better, this "American muscle icon" ran 22 seconds in the quarter mile, unfortunately it is only a 6 cylinder, and I am building it to be different unlike Mike over here with the wall in his civic //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif it runs 7psi, well actually ran 7psi until I just sold the complete setup on ebay to go with a much larger turbo and run more boost at higher rpms. the turbo that WAS on there was an ihi off a 4 banger probe and didnt do so well at high rpms.

theres a link to a retarded video from when it was still together. I have to make a new manifold now, should be fun. going back to the american muscle thing, yea I coudl have dropped a v8 in it and had a bit of power however its not all about speed, I mean why inthe hell would anyone need 2 18"s behind their head, or 4 18"s or any other rediculous amount of oversized woofers? attention? having something few others do? thats the only thing I could come up with. I wanted something different, find another car like it. and good luck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Talk about non sequitur.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

Anyway, the point in dropping in a V8 instead of turboing the car is two-fold. Firstly, the point of owning an American muscle car (for most people) is largely nostalgia. Throwing a turbo on a v-6 mustang doen't really fit into that category. Secondly, a nice small block v8 is much more reliable than a turboed anything. You don't have the problems with boost and fuel regulation, detonation, etc. that plague many turbo setups. Now if you supercharged a v8, you would obviously run into these issues anyway. The point of supercharging versus turbocharging is that it doesn't completely change the driving experience. Small blocks are known for their great throttle response. Throwing a turbo on, as well as the lag that comes with it, drasticly changes that. Now if you supercharge the same engine, then you are basically "amping up" the classic muscle car experience. Same instant power, same big engine, just a shit load faster.

I have absolutely no problem with turboing car. Just don't do it to American Muscle.

its an inline 6 btw, so why is this not classified as american muscle? is it because of when you think of turbos you think of imports orrr? turbos were used in thousands of WWII fighter planes. I dont want it to sound like I dont like superchargers but on this setup its more practical IMO to put a turbo on it. find me a supercharger for $101 shipped. new used whatever, thats what I paid for it. I made the manifold from the stock manifold and welded a flange on it. lag was non existant, it was so small there was none. I also get the benefits of getting better gas mileage and you have to know what your doing to do it, there arent kits available or anthing. its priceless to see peoples faces when you beat their v8 with a 6 banger. If I wanted to make my 95 stang fast I would have supercharged it, much easier but to each his own I guess.

Yeah, I realized it was a straight 6 after I posted. As for the mileage and the cost, I completely get it. But if I had a choice, I would still prefer a supercharger. As for the turbos on on WWII planes, you're right. They're also on countless diesel trucks. I don't reserve turbos for imports, it's just that Detroit Muscle means a certain kind of experience for me. A turboed engine just doesn't fit in there in my opinion. Put that kind of setup in any modern vehicle, and I wouldn't have said a thing.
