my car isnt worth fixing

dur...he said the cats were last year...try getting past second grade reading before posting here.
and

$100 on a taurus will buy everything needed for the ignition system.
But if it's the heads causing the misfire it won't help to replace the ignition system.

The problem with that is you will be working on it. I owned a 92 Civic and I spent more trying to keep that POS on the road for 2 years than I have spent on my truck in 17 years. It even had less mileage that my truck.
I dont believe you, I havent had the hood open for more than washer fluid in a year, these cars are dreamy. But I take care of mine, your a redneck

LOL a redneck... LOL you crack me up. How can you be taking care of your's if you only open the hood for washer fluid? moron!

always....if it is a "misfire" it is ignition...
the term misfire refers to when the ignition system does not ignite when it was intended.
So if you have a burned valve in your head and that cyl has no compression will it misfire? Yes, does that mean you can fix it with $100 worth of ignition system parts? No!

if you have a burnt valve then you don't have a misfire. you have a burnt valve.

literally a misfire is when the ignition system is not firing.

So what are the symptoms of a burnt valve and why does it cause a misfire code? Well not on a 92 Taurus but on an OBD2 car. Actually, he is referring to an "engine misfire" not an "ignition system misfire".

a burnt valve does not allow the cylinder to create any compression(have you ever seen one?). I have never seen a burnt valve throw a misfire code because when a misfire code is thrown it is actually a resistance change at the ignition coil that the computer recognizes as a "misfire".

Of course I've seen a burnt valve. I've been an ASE certified tech for almost 20 years. Actually, the old Civic I was talking about earlier had a burnt valve. I might still have it laying around somewhere. You must not work on cars very much if you don't think a burnt valve causes a misfire code. The computer does not look at the ignition coil to detect a misfire, it looks at the crankshaft and determines if there is a misfire by variations in engine RPM. Read this article it explains what a misfire really is.

You are a retard. A misfire code is thrown when an irregular pattern is seen in the waveform of the crank and cam sensors. A misfire itself is anything that prevents combustion. Lack of compression prevents combustion sooooo...

Short of a modern ion sensing system, what voodoo allows the pcm to read plug/wire resistance? The only thing even close is the method old saturns use to mimic a cam sensor, they since #1 firing. When a problem occurs(plugs and wires can cause this) with this system still doesn't throw a misfire code, it throws a cam sensor code unless there is an actual misfire

Still have yet to pick up my car and hear the full list of what he found.

Is auto trader and ebaymotors my best bet for finding used cars online? Im not sure how much I would be willing to budget towards it. Im thinking around 5-10k.

IMO look for an accord 90-98 (something with the f22) they are very reliable if maintained. About the only way to kill them is ignore timing belt changes.
