I was riding to work today was a 5 minute ride. I was playing a little three 6 mafia at moderate level. My CD player shuts off when i'm like 10 seconds from parking I figure hmmm must of knew I wanted to turn it off. So i turn it on to see if it will turn off agian. Yup it does it did fine when i was on radio but when I went to CD it shut off probably to protect me. FIRE SMOKE FLAMES... I go running into pizza hut to get a bucket of water and save my baby. Wires on the positive are all burned up but nothing wrong with the negative...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Not many people around here even have a computer let alone a digi cam. Only other details I got is the battery has a hole in it now and it was a 500 CCA maxstart battery. I'm going to get it fixed by a shop tomorrow and going to get a 900 CC Everystart Gold battery from autozone.

Yes, hydrogen gas is produced during normal battery operation. This easily ignitable gas can escape through the battery vents and may form an explosive mixture in the atmosphere around the battery if ventilation is poor. Keep sparks, flames, burning cigarettes, and other ignition sources away at all times. Do not break "live" circuits at the terminals of batteries

Thats one theory I got from Ology if that helps...

EverStart is a Wal-Mart battery.

Duralast is Auto Zone's in-house brand //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Good luck finding the cause of your fire so you can keep it from happening again //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Water is about the last thing you want to use on an electrical fire, because unless you have a jug of deionized water around...it's going to conduct whatever electricity you have floating around //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

That's why halon extinguishers are rated for electrical use...but sometimes, you make do with what you have.

Thats one theory I got from Ology if that helps...
That's true, but I don't see how it would apply in this case.

well, you DIDN'T fuse the power lead to your HU, did you?
x2 on this...are you running a properly sized fuse on the power lead? If you weren't...well...it's not there for show //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
