My campus in an uproar (a bit long)

True, and I don't know about there but at OSU all the frats are privately owned and funded by the students living there, certain sponsers (including Pabst Blue Ribbon who funds a frat on campus), and alumni who lived there.

Yeah, and get this. They put ads in the paper every Thursday announcing how many kegs they are going to be having for their "Thirsty Thursday Throwdown". //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

we only have one fraternity on campus that owns their land and house out right DKE (Delta Kappa Epsilon) The only reason they own their land was because in the 1940s the governer of the state's son was in DKE and he bought the land for the frat from LSU. All other frats and sororities are on 99 year leases from the university

all the students minor and not should meet up at a few places around town and just get straight fubared. If you actually made it be...what are they gonna do?? arrest 10,000+ people?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I'd like to see that. Call it a "peaceful protest" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

That's bullshit!!! OSU has a Saferide van with the intentions of getting people back safe to campus or their house no matter how old you are, no questions asked.
As for the frats being entered, the police have NO RIGHTS to enter private property (which includes frat houses, but NOT dorms) unless they physically see a problem with their own eyes.
not true about the frat thing. if the frat house is on campus the campus police have the right to enter whenever they want, no questions asked. if the house was off campus, then its a different story. well at least here at UF

Why would a beer company and bars advertise so much there? I mean not even half the people there can drink legally, so they shouldnt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif. I'd think the government should care about them advertising to these "under 21 year old adults". Oh wait, they give the gov tons of money, so its all good //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

**** tommy that sucks, the cops in milwaukee are awesome. If they bust a party they just let everybody go home. One time a cop came to a rugby party, asked if it was a rugby party, and we said it was and he said he loves rugby and sat down in uniform and drank a beer with us.

The frat houses aren't "on campus" in terms of being by all academic buildings and dorms, but i'm not sure if the school owns the property the frat houses are on.

There was a previous incident last year when a frat got busted for underage drinking and the national chapter of the frat shut them down. The bad part was that the SCHOOL gave all the guys in the house 4 HOURS to get all of their stuff out of the house. So everyone there had to scramble to get storage places and try to find a place to live (this was at the beginning of the 2nd semester).

The university and the frats haven't had the best relations over the past years. Things would be so much smoother if they went back to being a wet campus. Back in the '70's when it was, there were parties everywhere and keg races down the main streets that all the frat houses were on. I wouldn't doubt it if there were less issues with arrests too.

In my opinion, with a campus as small as ours (3800 students), we don't need our own police force. Hire a few rentacops to drive around in golf carts and have the valparaiso city police department cruise through campus now and then. Our police force is a joke anyways. There has been more and more crime over the years i've been here and the VUPD hasn't solved shit.

16 cars were broken in to in ONE NIGHT in the parking lot in my building, and the cops never tracked anything down nor did any actual detective work. And the bad part is that the parking lot cannot be any more than 300 feet from the police station. Luckily they didn't break into my car. From what i can tell, they broke in the car next to mine, opened up the door hard enough into my car to set off the alarm, and took off because of the noise. I was parked in the row closest to the building and all the cars that were broken in to were further away.

I think everybody else in my row should thank me for my alarm going off. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Anyways, i've never seen the VUPD do any actual investigation work for anything. And there have been more assault cases this year than any other year.

All i can say is that i'm going to the protest just too see how big it is and how much it really does. I could care less about the policies because i'm 21, live off campus, and going to graduate in a month. But i would like to visit one day and not get arrested for drinking. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Police = gay. someone got stabbed on my trunk, with blood all over my trunk, on tape, and they didnt do shit about it. NO CSI, nothing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Also, if you think that having a sober/legal person to drive you home is an option, try again. Police are pulling over people who are giving rides to underagers and issuing citations to them too, and taking the underagers to jail.
im pretty sure cops can NOT give citations to people who give people rides home, espically when the reason for pulling them over is bogus to begin with.

that shit is rediclious. id rig videocamreas in the car.

That sucks hard ballox. I have not heard of such problems here at our school, but then again, we have like 20,000 students and I am a commuter //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
