I think the OP should have kept his opinion to himself. When I worked at Circuit City ( I know, but I was much younger then) and worked on the sales floor, I kept the highest sales record in the store. My "secret"? Listening to the customer and staying quiet. I only gave relevant information and opinions on products. Your response could have been "Yeah there's definitely going to be a change!" It would have satisfied her ignorance just enough to make her happy and spend more money. The fact that you insulted her indirectly caused her to close up and discouraged her from patronizing your company.
