my 6x9s are clipping

my 6x9s are clipping when i turn my system up. they are jbl 350 watts each. im looking for new ones but dont know what to look for. should i go for speakers with more watts?or just better quality speakers. i was looking at these 4 way 1400 watt 6x9s but im not sure.what do u think?

How is your system set up? Are you amping your 6x9's or are you running them off your headunit. If you have an amp on them, what is the rms rating of the amp and the rms rating of your 6x9. JBL makes so pretty good 6x9's that can had some decent power. is that legacy, pyramid, road gear 1400 watts or TRUE 1400w RMS

I have JBL 6x9's GTO series 100 watt rms 300 watt max powered with a profile 100 rms x 2 at 4 ohms and i have my gains a little lower then half and no bass boost running off the amp i just use the X-Bass off my headunit and they sound good so if there clipping you have your gains to high off ur amp or the bass boost is on and if ur running off HU then you might have a wiring problem.

I'm really not understanding the last half of your statement, it almost sounds as if you are anwserring your own question. ......... I know they dont but mine do :] naw but i dont set my gains high because i want that extra room to turn the x-bass on because i really rather have SPL then SQ

grab yourself some comps, 6x9's are nice at low volumes, but distort like crazy once some power is thrown at them

True story....... but my HD goes up to 100 volume i can put it at about 55-57 with 2/4 x-bass but not much after they they crumble

If you have a sub, set them to about 100hz and let your sub grab the rest. It will move the soundstage, but if your soundstage sound like crap otherwise, you could probably live with it.
