mustang system with mach system

So I'm not exactly sure what happened but when I installed a headunit (Premier 6900) in my cousin's mustang with the mach audio system, the rear midbasses quit working. I wired everything correctly...at least I thought I did. All the stock harness wires were connected to the aftermarket wires correctly (speaker wires, dimmer, remote, power, ground...ya know) and the only thing I can think of is this: There was another harness for the amps...which converted it to an RCA connection, so I plugged it into the rear output, since we have a Diamond D3 amp running the front speakers (Alpine Type S). Everything powers on fine...except the only thing that doesn't work are the rear midbass speakers (which he does want running), the tweeters in the rear ARE working...and I have no idea what is wrong, I don't really have any experience on the mach systems and how they work, but any input is appreciated.

Does the mustang have the factory double din sized radio, or the two separate din sized radios?

The easiest way to get the rear mids to play is to just run new wires from the head unit to the rear mids. You can disconnect the wires coming from the tweets, and connect them to the mids. You'll have to check the ohm loads though to see if you can get both the tweets and mids to play.

On the factory double din cars there is a harness you can get that converts the second plug to rca inputs for the factory amp. In those the mids are basically woofers though.

the mach system has 2 factory amps in the back and one under the dash......you can't just run wire from the HU to the speakers. you can buy a custom harness designed for the mach system but it will run you about $120
$120, I laugh at you..

My friend got this one for his 2000 Mustang with the 460. This will only work with the Mustangs that have the separate cd player though.

Or you can do what he just did and take out the rear amp/speakers and install new speakers and run new wires.

Mach systems what a headache. I wouldn't even touch one unless I was planning on changing everything
A lot of people agree with you there. Back in the day I just added a sub to mine, and that was very easy to do. But replacing a HU is a little more tricky.

But I did end up completely taking mine out and replacing everything. It's a decent sounding upgraded stock system, but the mach460 is nothing compared to a solid aftermarket one. I say rip it out and don't worry about the back mids yet.

And just wondering, but are the back tweeters working properly?

sorry guys, i totally forgot about this thread

lets see, we got a harness that converted the factory amp signal into an RCA, plugged that into the Rear output, but the only we have coming from the rear is the tweeter. He eventually is going to replace those speakers, but he wanted them working for the time being
