mustang speakers

the factory openings in my mustang are 6x8 or 5x7 in the front and rear like a lot of people on here. why do people buy adapters and use 6.5 or 5.25 speakers when they can fit a bigger speaker? are there any advantages to going with a smaller speaker? there must be a reason people hardly ever run 6x8's. should i do the same? does it matter?

Oval speakers are for fegs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

They just aren't as common, get a nice 6.5" component set

I've read, and I've been told by professionals that the round 6.5s would sound slightly better than the oval 5x7 speakers.

I think it comes down to the fact that you can get a little more for your money with a set of 6.5 comps since that size is more popular.

Since I don't have the tools, material, space or advanced enough skills to mess with my own audio stuff I have to pay someone to do it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif My stock size is 5x7. I got pricing on 6.5s and adapters and it ended up cheaper to go with the 5x7 comp set I picked up. I paid next to next to nothing for it so I'm happy.

My next install I will be ready to do everything on my own from start to finish.

This site has been a great help.

its alot easier and cost effective to get a 6.5 component set than a 5X7 of 6X8 set, and components speakers sound ALOT better than coaxial
i will be getting a component set and there are some companies that make 6x8 components such as image dynamics, cdt, focal and hertz just to name a few. but yall still think 6.5 sound better?

Well im not saying that, what im saying that 6.5 are more popular hence having a higher availability over 5x7 comps, thus lower the cost to you, and also giving you more options(almost every company makes 6.5 components). I wouldn't think the size of the cone would affect sound any just give you great surface area and MAY lead to a louder speaker

i'd say go with the largest you can fit so if you ever upgrade you dont have to change the wire again. My motto is I'd rather have it and not need as much than to need more and not have enough

i want to get a planet audio bb175.4b so that it matches my sub amp. this amp puts out 150x4 at 4ohms but i wont be running active because i want to get rear speakers also because i have a convertible. with the top down people in the back wont be able to hear anything...
