MTX 9510 Problem

So i picked up a 9510 yesterday works perfectly fine...only problem is the baskets cracked

my question is could i use jb weld on it and the jb weld be able to hole this sub.

would be nice not to pay 140 for a recone from mtx and have a 5 dolla woofa

Try some of that tite bond shit thats always on TV. Supposedly can hold up to 300lbs. Just a thought....

never seen tite bond

anyhow if anyones curious how it happened im pretty sure it was mounted and the weight of the motor snapped it, they look pretty thin and cheap

someone i saw selling a 9512 (or15) had broken and repaired the basket. do a search for that

Drill 2 holes one above and one below and make a brace. Since welding is out the the question (heat and non metal woofer parts). I do not think globs of any sort of "glue" will be very strong in this situation. I would maybe use some sort of jb weld type stuff in the break to prevent rattle then i would cut a brace and mount it with small bolts...

mtx will replace it for the flat rate i had a 9515 and it cost me $95

I think that is there rate for everything. When I bought my 942 amp off ebay and it didnt work They charged me 95$ to fix it and rewarrenty it.

i remember a thread here a while back where a guy had this happen... he drilled holes in the broken spokes of teh basket and bolted steel L brackets over the broken spoke

Use the JB weld stick... it's like a putty... and you can build it up and spread it evenly on all sides.

I've seen some with crack baskets before... but usually around the lip area and vertical.

How will you be mounting it, maybe consider a motor support. But really I think you'll be fine.
