MT to BTL swap

Also note that the third magnet is probably useless without the high xmax coil
Incorrect.

The 3rd Magnet extends the B-feild... When you are giving a sub 10,000w that is a plus. Wether or not it is actually useful I dont know.

However, IIRC it was really only put an option for users who get the High Xmax coil, not because the High Xmax coil wouldnt give the same gains in Xmax with two magnets, but it did give more spacing for rearward movement.

Noah already stated what would be optimal for SPL... stop comming behind and licking his ball sack. Cerial.

And just like I basically said, High Xmax Coil, Cooling, and Copper coils arent needed.

mt's are what they are from the factory,no options or whatnot,i just wish fi would do the same, honestly i think all the options are more or less a way to make extra money.
yeah you are right it is a way to make extra money, but they have a place. Fully Loaded BTLs sound alot better and have more excursion than a standard BTL, which is better for daily and bassrace applications. A standard BTL is badass for SPL, but with options you can make it perform much better on the streets.

PS, and the price of the options doesnt seem that bad, considering the labor involved in the machining process.

hi shawn //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif haha. stever didnt BUY the rockford amp, thats chickens. meade may of wrote the check, but its chickens money. also, steve gets help on some aspects, but i doubt scott gave him THAT good of a "deal" as these subs are far better than most, and the price is about average. shockers are 700....and id bet BTL's could outdo, or atleast match them.

considering the cost difference of the parts you are getting too.

I dont know the prices but Machiened Ferrite (I assume that is what is used) cant be that cheap. $20 for a longer coil, $10 to macheine the motor to reduce pressure on the dust cap, $40 to macheine the motor to keep it a lot cooler. I dont know if They do the machiening in house or if the backplates and poles are pre machiened and they just put them togather...either way it is a small price to pay.

So 8 cubes @35 Hz w/ 6000 RMS in a D/D. Getting two 15s. Whats the best BTL package ? I was thinking fully loaded?

Don't mean to thread jack but it would be nice to get an idea of the differences between D/D BTLs and competition BTLs.

We do the machining in house. And of course it is a way to make money... lol. Something about being in business and not being a non-profit company //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

But each of the options does have its value when it comes to different applications. The standard BTL is a great Street class sub, where adding the thrid magnet, high Xmax coil, and full cooling simply isnt needed. So why make the sub standard with that and charge for it?

I guess we could make the fully loaded sub the "standard" and then you could subtract the options from it to make it cheaper. Then youd be getting a deal, instead of adding an option or two //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

170.8 with a single 18 and a 179.3 with 4 of them in Extreme 3-4. And neither of these subs had the same options or needed to have all of them either.

We will keep following this train of thought with new sub additions as well. Options to really tailor your sub to your needs, and not have to compromise your application with something that doesnt quite fit the bill...

I have always thought that your system should conform around your needs, and not the other way around... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
