Mounting Amps under seats

A few questions about it...

To gain a little trunk space back, I am thinking about moving my amps from the trunk to under the front seats in a 92 maxima.

1) How should I attach my amps to the floor? Velcro directly to the floor? Mount on a board and velcro that to the floor? Or some other way?

There are drain plugs under the seat and they go directly to the ground (imagine that). I'd rather not mess with screwing through the chassis and inviting rust into my car. But I'd rather screw them in and put some coating over it then lose my car to a fire when the amp moves around when its not supposed to.

2) How much clearance do I need above the amps? Is 1 inch enough? They both have fans on the top of the case.

Thanks

1. Velcro will work, its actually called hook and loop tape, just remove the "loop" and it should stick to your carpet pretty good.

2. 1" is probably enough, just be shure your seat doesnt hit the amp when you sit in it.

Depending on how tall your amp is you might need to re-rig the seat adjustment lever.. I had a kenwood kac-846 under the pass. seat in my 91 maxima.. The amp was only about 2" tall but the seat adjuster wouldn't clear it.. I think I used a heavy coat hanger or a lil heavier wire to make a new bar to unlock the other rail to move the seat back n forth.. Worked great though..

I had my old small Pioneer amplifier mounted underneath the passenger's seat.

Firstly, stick your amp under the seat and move the seat back and forth to see if it will fit properly under there.

I personally just screwed the amplifier (beater car) right to the floor itself. If you do this it may tend to collect a lot of heat because of it being right on the carpet and all, so you may want to use spacers.

Also, make sure you don't screw it inot any lines or pipes or tanks under the car.

Got one under each seat in my Altima. As others suggested, lay it in place and move the seat back and forth. I also blocked off the heating vents that were under each seat as they would have blown right on the amps.

I just use self-tapping screws and a dab of silicone under the car where they come through the floor.
