different ac vots from left and right channels?

i recently bought a dmm because i wanted to try setting the gains on my amplifiers the "proper" way. first off, the amplifier is a pg xenon 200.4. it has a gain for the front speakers, and a gain for the rear speakers, i have and use front and rear components. i noticed when i put the leads from the dmm in the front left channel speaker terminals on the amplifer, and set the correct ac volts, it was fine, but when i put the leads on the front right speaker terminals, the voltage was a about 3.5 volts higher than the left side. same with the rear speakers too, for some reason the right channels are sending out more volts than the left on my amp?

how's this possible? is there something on the hu that i selected to make this happen? any thoughts are appreciated, thanks.

It sounds like your balance control on the HU is set a little bit to one side.

Try measuring it again, but this time try using your balance control to set it up at the same voltage reading.

thanks for the suggestion, i double checked and the balance and fade controls are still at 0, i haven't touched them. but maybe tomorrow i'll check the volts with the dmm and try messing with the balance and see if i can correct it, even out the volts a little, seems weird for the balance control on the deck to be goofed up on a recently purchased eclipse cd5000, but i gotta do something.

I've had this happen with my Kicker 200.2 which I use on my tweeters.

I sent it back to Kicker and they replace the VREG in it. It's just a slight discrepancy which you have to deal with on some amplifiers.

what is this is percent? 3.5V compared to? there is a logarithmically graded potentiometer that is used to adjust gains. any mismatch can cause this issue.

i figured it had to be something wrong with the amp, thanks for the info. yay, now i can send it in to get fixed/replaced and get it back in like a month. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif
