Mounting a hifonics amp

i heard that hifonics amps have problems overheating when they are mounted on a box.. this true?

So.................. dont mount it on the box. I'm sure that's not true, but why take a chance with your gear?

i mounted mine, but with some big *** bolts so it could get some breathing room underneath. Seems to work pretty good and doesn't get real hot.

I mount all my amps on rubber isolators, you can get them at Lowes, they are in the bins withs the specialty items, in the nut and bolt isle.

An amp may however fail, when mounted on a box, due to the vibration of the box, something in the future may break off and fail, and this is true for all amps

You can buy rubber stoppers that look like wine corks, drill a hole in them and put them between the amp and mounting location, then use a long screw to mount the amp.

I've mounted amplifiers on subwoofer enclosures without incident. I think an amplifier would die from a crappy Louisiana highway way before I would blame subwoofer enclosure vibrations for killing it. I swear, this has to be one of the only states where the highway maintenance guys actually make things WORSE when they patch pot holes.

Those Brutus amps are great little amps. Nothing wrong with them except the mosfets being mounted at 90 degrees to the PCB. Causes the legs to break off from vibration, can cause the amp to go up in smoke when it happens...
