more power or more subs

i have a 91 regal and the prefab box i have bearly fits my trunk is a 16 somthing odd inches tall the box is a odd like 16" wide top and back and around 37" long

so if i need a bigger box i will have to get it built in the trunk (if i get more subs

setup in signature

in prefab ported box

it want to hit harder and louder

i was thinking of 2 custom boxes placed at a angel on the side infront of the pre fab

but i have my ports firing to the rear and i think the added boxes may stop the bass from reflecting into the cabin so im lost

i was thinking of 2 cvx's or l7's inplace of the cvr's but the guy at the shop i go to said they dont get much louder then the cvr's

I just asked a question about how much space you need to leave in the trunk to allow the waves to pass into the cabin. If your prefab barely fits, you might not be getting the potential of your setup.

How much power does that amps put out??

Btw if i'm reading this last post ^^^ correctly you want to add 2 more 15s?? If that's the case then you won't have anywhere near the proper airspace to do so. Seems like the current box you have might be a lil small for your current subs.

the amp is rated

4000watts @14.3(14.4 watever) @1ohm

2000 watts @^^@2ohms

its under a 4ohm load so im getting like 700wrms or less rms from what i have put togeter from ther site(quantum)

Well don't expect that amp to do anywhere near rated power.

So what kind of money are u looking to spend?? are u planning on keeping this amp?? Can you build your own enclosures?? Can you install everything yourself??

ill toss the amp if i need to

i can build my own enclosure if i feel like it.....ill probly have some one do it for me ...i kinda want it built in

and installation is a breeze i had the shop doit because i have a lifetime warrenty ..i have just ben to lazy to make the few changes i dont like

dont get me wrong it slamms

it hits certain notes really hard and the lower notes ok(never herd a system that was stup to hit the lows

@ 1ohm it will more than likely burn up the subs because of the power(even though @ 1ohm i doubt that amp will do 2k) and will burn up the amp from the excessive voltage drops/using 4ga wiring to run it with that power.

Basically i say sell what you have now and start from scratch to be honest. Btw learn to build your own boxes and install on your own, you'll save a ton of money in the long run and will learn a lot.

What are u looking to spend if u do decide to start over??

i had 2 12s before and the 15's do alot better

so what you think more subs or more power

im slammin pretty hard ima post flex vids later 4 15s is pushing it i think

but befor that i was gona do 6 12's (i can go back and get 6 12's but i dont fell like it i just want to be quakin...

For any of these setups listed you won't have anywhere near the proper airspace, unless u go w/ a half wall or full wall. Out of just the trunk simply won't be enough by any means.

So u wanna run multiple 1000rms woofers, but do u have the power or the electrical to back it up??

i just want the bass to be louder...ill do the upgades..as i said im slammin

but if i was slamming harder it wouldnt hurt...

the guy at the shop said cvx's dont get that much louder...but i dont know how much of that is tru....

after i get my next car...i was think about going with 2 18s...built into a wall or 4 15's

but not a full wall somthing like this

you would be better off putting two higher end twelves in the right sized properly built and tuned ported box than just trying to shove more subs in that trunk. It would also give your subs some more room to breathe.I'm really surprised you got the fifteens in there as it is.I had a 91 regal and a good sized ported box for two twelves barely fit. Your box must be way small for those 15's. Kinda sounds like you already knew what you wanted to do before you came here and were hoping we would agree. We are trying to help you out from our experience. You may get a little louder shoving multiple subs into that undersized trunk but its gonna sound like sh!t.
