Mono vs. 2 channel amp

except dual 4 subs can only be wired to 1 ohm and 4 ohms, so unless the amp is 1 ohm stable or you get enough power at 4 ohms then no, you'll need a new amp.
No. A 2 channel amp that is stable at 2 ohms STEREO will work just fine. Hard to find one that isn't.

But as mentioned....don't bridge the 2-channel amplifier into a 1ohm load (unless specifically designed to do so). You could bridge the amplifier to both subs if you wired them together in series-parallel for a final 4ohm load.....more of a wiring headache, but IMO looks a little cleaner since there's less wires running to the amp. Or run one sub per channel at 2ohms.
