Is it ok to put a 2ch. amp that is rated down to 2 ohms on 2 dual 4 ohm subwoofers or should i get a mono block that is rated at 1 ohm? Would it even matter as long as they are getting the rms power?
except dual 4 subs can only be wired to 1 ohm and 4 ohms, so unless the amp is 1 ohm stable or you get enough power at 4 ohms then no, you'll need a new amp.
But as mentioned....don't bridge the 2-channel amplifier into a 1ohm load (unless specifically designed to do so). You could bridge the amplifier to both subs if you wired them together in series-parallel for a final 4ohm load.....more of a wiring headache, but IMO looks a little cleaner since there's less wires running to the amp. Or run one sub per channel at 2ohms.
