modding amps

Had a couple questions on this. It seems that most of the modded amps I see are the MTX ones.....is there any particular reason for this, or is just because Scottie had like 40 of them, and now theyre floating around the forum? Could any amp be modded to accept lower impedances and provide more power?

What are the drawbacks of it? Since the protection circuit is removed, would that make the amp more likely to blow?

BINGO!

And a few other competitors had them as well...very few tho...

As ngsm said; that's the primary reason //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Pretty much, yeah.

Well, for one....if your amp has any manufacturer warranty, that warranty would now be void. And, it increase your chances of damaging the amp (it decreases the amp's ability to protect itself).

Since the protection circuit is removed, would that make the amp more likely to blow?
Well, it increases the chances of the amp being damaged. Simple things that the amp was protected from before, it is no longer protected from.

For daily driving, I wouldn't mod my amp or run an amp that has had the protection removed. You really want that protection on a daily driver amp to protect against simple things that can go wrong. It's not worth the risk. You'd be better off with an amp that meets your needs straight from the factory. That's my opinion atleast......

Im not looking to do it personally, I just figured if its possible, more people would do it. You know how ****ing excited people get with a little extra power...
