Min vs Max volume and it's performance effects?

After a good hour or so of browsing and searching it's once again time to ask strangers on the interweb what I can't seem to find.

I have a single L7 12 in a 3.24cu ported box tuned at 38hz. I want to add to my system for a bit more punch with some smaller subs at some point. If I were to rebuild my L7 12's box to the min. volume vs the max it's at now how would that affect sound levels / quality? Space is limited, why the issue has come up.

So what effects will min vs max size box have on my L7 as well as any say..8's or 10's I put in for harder hit.

Don't mix sub sizes. Get two decent 10's OR 12's and you'll be happy.

Because its ghetto and really just a bandaid for the real.issue. a good sub can play 80hz to 20hz sufficiently if its ok the right box. Smaller subs don't necessarily play higher notes better they just play low notes quieter. I have a 21 for example that can play all the way into the midbass region if needed. Anyway I'd your kicker is in a big box at 38 odds are its a 1 note wonder. Plays mid 40hz tones loud and that's about it. A bigger box is more effecient and will peak more near tuning. Smaller boxes do the opposite. Try the kicker in a new box tune lower next time and drop be airspace a hair if you want it less peaky. Just dropping the tuning should do.wonders though

A. Do a search on here. TL;DR: just don't.

B. I have no personal experience with Kicker, but from everything I have seen, you will actually want a bigger box than you have, tuned lower, for that thing to perform it's best.

Space is an issue, why I was questioning if I could go closer to the min box size vs the max. I'm aware subs in a box setup for it will produce good sound from 20-80 easily but I'm happy with what I have setup tuning wise (though I'll look into lower tuned / bigger box just to learn more). I want more hit, more sudden sharp starting and stopping of a bass note. Considering some 8's to augment the bass the 12 is already making.
