Mids that wont blow

100hz hpf? Sorry, that means they wont play anything under 100hz right?

That isnt good with a 15" Mag in a ported box that doesnt do much above 60hz. What do I do?

That means I need mids that can handle that power with the hpf lower right?

what you mean HP them hard? When I set the HPF on the amp its not an absolute cuttoff correct? When you say hard are you saying set it to absolutely cuttoff under 80hz? Sorry if Im confusing Im not very knowledgable on this stuff.

No Im not going active

I meant a sharp slope so you won't overexcurt the mids and cause some sloppy midrange. I stated the 24db/oct slope that I had good luck with. I doubt your amp has a slope that steep, more like 12 or 18db/oct....I could be wrong though.

You should really try going active. I did and I'll never go back. You really save a lot of money as far as speakers go since you end up buying DIY speakers that are a better value than brand name comps, and you don't have to pay for crossovers...it's all in the HU! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

No, that means they won't handle 130w RMS under 100Hz. The listed frequency response is 55Hz to 7kHz. However, I highly doubt you'd notice that gap a whole lot. Better to protect your speakers

If you are this confused about stuff, you should probably do a lot more research before you drop any more money. Make sure you know what you're doing so you don't crispy your shit anymore.

Generally, adjustable x-over slopes are indeed higher end amp and HU features; for example, the eclipse cd7k has adjustable x-over at 40, 50, 63, 80, 100.... hz and you can adjust the slope between 6/12/18/24db. Honestly, with that mag in there you are really wasting your time putting that kind of set of comps in there; the mag is going to utterly drown the comps out, and you're not even going to feel like they are getting loud before you hit their limits. What did that mag and the amp for it cost? Why should your fronts get less invested in them? They have to work harder at playing a much wider frequency range. My point is, you are going to have to compromise if you expect to spend 100$ on a pair of speakers and want to match them with a 15" SI MAG that is properly powered...

I have the CDT EF-61's and while they sounded great to me they both blew off my Profile CA-600 (100wx2) amp.
The mids lasted maybe 3 months. What is a reasonably priced 6.5" that will handle a little more power? I had my gains set right and everything.
actually a CA600 will do 150rms x 2 @ 4 ohms
