Mids that wont blow

I have the CDT EF-61's and while they sounded great to me they both blew off my Profile CA-600 (100wx2) amp.

The mids lasted maybe 3 months. What is a reasonably priced 6.5" that will handle a little more power? I had my gains set right and everything.

I have been away from audio for a while and am not familiar with that company. Why hertz? I dont remember hearing anything about them.

Or is this one of those sarcastic BS answers?

They didnt blow because of the power? How else could they blow? I am pretty sure I wasnt sending them a clipped signal.

i wouldnt think that the power would blow them, i doubt that profile is pushing out anything more then 60/75 rms, but im not really familiar with your speakers either. specs?

well obviously you havent done your research but Hertz is a high end speaker with audison being the matching company

Ok wait the comps were rated at 150 per side and so was my amp. Sorry I havent messed with this stuff in a year.

Profiles are supposed to do rated power, so Im sure it was getting close to that.

The speakers would sound great at the volume I would run them at, I never ran them sounding bad. They just stopped working. I tested them each individually and wouldnt make a sound at all.

I dont know how to get the specs on the speakers, they seem to be discontinued by CDT. I bought them from djdilliodon

I havent read about this stuff in a year, maybe hertz was out of my price range at the time so I didnt pay it any attention.

I have crossovers and tweets that are pretty good so Im just lookin for mids that will handle plenty of power so I cant overpower them with this amp. Around $100-120 for mids.

They aren't high end, but they are a decent budget product...

They are simply not a quality brand known for putting out rated, clean power. Sure, they are decent budget amps, and who knows, maybe his amp DOES put out rated, either way 100 watts RMS isnt going to kill his speakers.

in short, you didn't have enough power and were clipping them, which led to them burning up.
