Mid bass speakers, Y or N?

I don't know how guy's are using them. If you were to releive your full range speakers of mid bass, I could see how that could be beneficial, distortion wise, and possibly amid woofer could do a better job of producing those frequencies. If it is run along with everything else, I guess I don't see much of a benefit......... How are most guys running them?

When you say full range component speakers? Are you talking 2 way or 3way? Are you running them off one amp and using a crossover? What type of car and what type of components? How much power to all of them?

The fronts are Focal K2 Power 6.5, rear Focal V2 components, Focal V2 11" sub. Amp is Audison LRX 6.9 75 @ 4ohm and 400+ to the sub at 2 ohm.

I have a Chevy HHR wagon.

I use an Audiocondrol DQSX with crossovers and eq. I have the fronts going down to 71Hz, rears going down to 90 Hz, sub crosses over at 71HZ

I have tried that before..........I like less bass from the rear door drivers to bring the staging forward. I use the rear speakers as fill, not as a pronounced player in my overall soundfield. But thanks for the input!

with your rears playign lower, it'll be more of a fill, imo. i wouldn't have highs coming from the rears either. by having your rears lower, you'll have a gain in overall midbass, which this whole thread is about right?

I am wondering about using midbass drivers to not only provide a strong mid bass, but also in some way possibly lessen the load on the other speakers. As I have stated previously, I don't know how most people are using these drivers, and I am looking for opinions and experiences...........

Joe

I'm guessing then that you have the 2 way system. Is that a single amp running all four sets of speakers? You might want to bring your sub up to about 80 Hz. What do you have for crossover frequency fall off? (I know it's not the right name for it but my mind draws a blank at the moment?) A mid bass sub or set of midbass drivers may help.
