Its all good, I got what I needed to know for the most part.sorry andon, kinda jacked your thread
I might go ahead and do it then.. I'm pretty confident that if I can find somebody to let me get some time on their TL, I could do some damage. I just need to get used to the regulations before building my next setup. It would be cool to set a state record or two if I can get lucky.Nobody will care that you worked part time at BB.
If you want to run AS, go ahead. The scores are usually quite a bit lower in AS which makes competing in it fairly easy for newcomers.
Street on the other hand.....
In the referenced phrase, this suggests that if you're currently employeed by a company that deals with the 12 volt industry, that you'd be disqualified for AS class.AMATEUR STREET - Intended for BASIC, daily use systems. The intent is also that the competitor owns his/her equipment, and does not borrow it. Amateur Street is for first year consumer competitors, or those competitors who have never been World or State Champions. 12-Volt Industry Professionals are not permitted to compete in the Amateur Street Division. Competitors who have had success in other competition
organizations are not eligible to compete in the Amateur Street Division.
So its really up to you if you wanted to take the chance. You may have an issue, or you may never have an issue. For me it would be a tough call though, allthough id probably favor allowing you since it "IS" Best Buy and it was apparently some time ago and at a limited capacity. Some judges might not be so lenient. Some unique situations may arise that disqualify vehicle, system, and/or competitor from Amateur Street Division, determined by MECA Judges.
The wording of the rules never said anything about "expert" - it just states a professoinal in the 12-volt industry. A person with MECP certification and works at best buy would definatley be considered a 12 volt professional reguardless of what you and I think of the company.Working at BB counts as being a 12-volt expert? LMAO. They may as well say that Engineering students can't be in AS either.
Yeah, I feel like the rules are worded vaguely sometimes. Oh well, I decided against doing AS, even though I'm sure that I could spank most of the classes. Street will be a lot more fun and competitiveThe wording of the rules never said anything about "expert" - it just states a professoinal in the 12-volt industry. But a seasonal employee would be questionable as to being a "professional", ya know?
IMO it would be up to the judge at the particluar event, or if the isssue was brought up to Steve Stern and or the R&E Comittee the topic could be reviewed properly and decided upon. One thing they like to avoid is making exceptions for pepole, since if one person wants and exception .... another and another will as well. And that just comes back to bite ya //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
