I am confident that this amp will put out the rated 1500rms, but im not sure if this amp is a good match for a pair of SA-8 D4 subs.

Im not as concerned with SPL as i am with SQ.

specs for SA-8 D4 Subs:

400 Watts Continuous Power Handling

RE: 3.28 ohms (series)

FS: 41.6 Hz

Qes: 0.513

Qms: 6.606

Qts: 0.476

Le: 2.778 mH

Vas: 3.285 L

BL: 17.138 N/A

Cms: 83.341 um/N

Mms: 175.654 g

Sens: 78.476 dB @ 1w/1m

SQ on a subwoofer is relative, provided the amplifier can make the power you need over the frequencies your music feeds to it. Some class d amplifiers struggle below 50 Hz to make any form of decent power, and sadly, they are generally Maxxsonics products. Then again, with 1,500 watts on tap at 1 ohm, it should be able to meet your needs for 800 watts RMS between 20 and 80 Hz. If not, it will be pretty dang close!

i heard Hifonics had problems putting out the rated rms.
Is it true?
i would say yes, but it isnt grossly overrated. I think its close enough that it can still be considered a quality budget item.

For comparison sake, i just went from a Fosgate 800a2, which is fairly powerful (birthsheet stated 1100rms) and my hifonics 1508d seems to be more powerful, although the Fosgate sounded better on low bass notes. I dont know an exact number, but im sure Hifonics does about 80% of rated power

Yeah, most complaints about them being overrated were by about 100-200watts, so right in that 80% range like you said. Realistically, it's not that much, inaudible even. But you know how it goes - once someone finds a something wrong with something, all hell breaks loose on CA //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

This would go a long way to alleviating the dimming issue, up to around 4000 watts. It can handle 100A continuous and up to 285A 7 second burst...

Well, there is always a bypass that can be McGuyvered. So next time you want to tackle that task, post it. We can help.
