It's not what they can/can't do ohms wise. More so what good for them & the subs/speakers. Amps out there can do stuff all day long, doesn't mean it's good for them. But hey, it's not my stuff, have at it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Personally unless it is a comp situation I don't see why people ever really run amps rated for 1 ohm operation at .5 or lower. Yes many amps will handle it but are you gaining that much more power? Can you hear the difference in a daily setup from 1 ohm to .5 ohm? Why not just run your quality amp at 1 ohm and have it last a long time. If its not loud enough for you then buy a bigger amp and run it as intended instead of trying to force your smaller amp to do something it wasn't meant to do. Just my opinion as I know lots of people have had success with this but why even chance it. Some amps will do it and some won't but if its rated for 1 ohm and you run it at 1 ohm then you will most likely have way fewer problems and a longer lasting amp.
