First update!

Stock 90 amp alternator

Kinetic HC1400 up front

Odyssey PC2150 in the spare tire well

KNU 0 gauge CCA positive run

Monster 4 gauge negative run

New Electrical:

JS Ultimate Alts 220 amp alternator

Big three upgrade with KNU flex OFC 0 gauge

Deka Group 34 up front

Deka Group 31 in the spare tire well

Deka Group 31 above the right tire well (can't believe I crammed another battery in there)

Skyhigh "2/0" (actually 4/0 gauge) CCA positive and negative runs and battery to battery

Old Bass amps:

Two Clarion DPX11500 at 0.33 ohms

New Bass amps:

Two Skar Audio 2500.1s at 0.33 ohms each

PICS!

Out with the old, in with the new (a smaller pulley was installed a couple weeks after). Always great to have a good buddy that's happy to help.

Time to swap out some batteries. Brand new blemished Deka AGMs, two group 31s and one group 34.

Got a great deal on 50ft of used Skyhigh oversized 2/0 CCA. Would have gotten 0 gauge OFC instead but the price was just too good. And some copper lugs and hammer crimper to go with it.

Running some wire in minus 20 degree weather. The Yellow top is an old one I was using for the winter.

The two huge runs fit better then I expected! One ran on the left as usual, the other under the center console.

Lets add some copper bars to the spare tire well battery for easier access (yeah wiring is still a mess at the moment).

Who knew I could stuff another big Group 31 battery in to that trunk? I originally intended to put it inside the cabin behind the center console. Yes I was doing most of this during a nice cozy Canadian winter.

Add a couple Skar 2500 amplifiers...

And throw the car on the meter for the first time ever. Sealed up, on the dash of course. 148.9 at 33hz is better then I expected on the first run.

UP NEXT in a couple weeks - front stage overhaul. Here's a sneak peek:

Now I'm curious...my wife's mazda3 (2013) has the worst road noise of any car I've ever been in. Did you do anything to get rid of that or is that the reason for the mass amount of SPL lol

Thanks yeah shes coming along. But the rattle is getting pretty bad. The sunroof motor blew it's screws out inside the roof, so I have to take apart the headliner as I can hear the screws bouncing around inside the roof when it plays. The other day the steel clips that hold the map lights snapped and now it dangles and blocks my rearview. These subs are eating the car alive. Im pretty sure the sunroof tracks may have cracked at some point as well.

As for road noise - the 2013 Mazda 3 should have a tonne more factory deadener then my 2004. When I took the system out for electrical upgrades, when my seats are down it sounds like the trunk is open when I'm driving. Lots of road noise on this car, another reason to have a loud system, to drown it out when I drive.
