Matching up a subwoofer to satellites

Came to the forum to get help with adding a subwoofer /amp to a system with the JL C5 components running off a JL A4300. I'm wondering what power range should I be looking at. The sats are running 45 to 70 wts. I'm thinking the JL W3 or W1 with either the JX250 or Jx500 in ported enclosure. Going into a Subaru Forester rear cargo area. Any good recommendations?

An 8 or 10w3 off the smaller JL amp would sound pretty darn good sealed or ported. JL subs do not need a lot of power to make a lot of noise...especially in a wagon/hatch.

There are a large number of options for you. A budget would help narrow things down. I imagine the goal is to add sub frequency while maintaining a balanced amount of output?

If so, W1 or W3 would work, as well as SSA Dcon, and dozens of others. The Dcon is pretty cost effective, thrives ported, and sounds nice.

My personal recommendation would be a Dayton HO in a ported enclosure built to its liking. Very accurate, capable, transparent subwoofer that can still offer good amounts of output. They also enjoy tiny ported enclosures.
