so I have posted 2 other threads and still am not getting the answers I need. I would appreciate it if you guys would all chip in and help me with some basic questions from a newbie.

I have a factory setup Hyundai Sonata 2006 sedan. Sub woofers will go in trunk which is 16.3 cubic feet.

The setup I am planning right now (which I am very unsure of) is:

replacing all factory interior speakers to memphis mclass (4)

Two 12" Memphis C3 with custom box (although they don't look so "custom" to me.. looks very plain and they have a lot of them stacked up.. standard wood box with grey carpet)

Amp for interior : 4.50 memphis

Amp for subs: 1000.1 memphis

Along with other items such as extra battery and dymanite (sp?)

This setup (with install professionally) is $2500.

I have viewed many threads about questions on amps and subs.. and honestly.. I don't hear anyone talking about Memphis.. so my first question would be.. why?

Secondly, if there is a better setup for less/the same money...and the same or more powerful/louder/clearer... please let me know! I want to make the car beside me, vibrate while still enjoying the mids and highs at loud levels! Nice clear rumble.

I have no clue about anything car audio. All I have to go on here, is the shop.. and the only other opinions I have, are you guys! Could you please let me know your thoughts on this..

I don't like the $2500 cost.. and it's not really my budget per se.. I can make it my budget, but if there are anything better than Memphis.. tell me why... and your personal experience with Memphis vs your recommendations.

If that is some shop, you are getting ripped by a d-bag memphis pusher.

And there is much better out there than memphis, and less expensive.

you can do way better than that. if i recall correctly, c3's are 600 rms... look at sundown sa's or obsidian's, or hell even skar vvxs for a lot cheaper! they are all 600 watts rms but can take plenty more, clean power that is. I have 2 obsidian 15's and yesterday i set off 2 car alarms in a parking lot and while driving down the road, i had a lady to my right tell me to turn it down so she could ask what i had in there to tell her husband and while i was talking to her, a guy to my left was interupting asking what i had... (he also told me i should get some kicker l7's... lol) i have a memphis pr4.50 running my mids and highs and its not enough. im looking to go bigger now. it has a great sq but is just not loud enough.

Buy your equipment from the classifieds or from some of the dealers on this site and you'll get the same or better equipment for less money. Next post up a thread for someone to build you a nice custom box, this site has plenty of good builders and it'll cost way less even with shipping. Finally see if there's someone local to you from here that'll help you install it all for some cash, if not just take all the equipment to the shop and have them install it. You should still be way under $2500. After the last job that a shop did on my car a few years back I'll never go back to one again unless they're VERY highly reputable.

Well ****.. I guess back to the drawing board.. will I need anything more than 600 watts per sub for what I want? what about the amp? 1000 watt enough? mclerico83, will those suggestions will it shake the car beside me and more? without me having to get into anything extra other than a battery in the back? if not, what would you upgrade those suggestions to?

For you I'd just go with no more than 1500wrms, a single run of 0/1g wire to the back and the big 3 done. If you have that much space I'd go with 15's and you can't go wrong with the Lethal Injections, SA15's, Obsidians, Skar VVX's, etc. with some decent components and a nice 4ch. amp you'd be all set.

the sundown will put out more than 1200 watts which will give you more than 600 watts per sub. if its your first system, yes it will be plenty, believe me. lol other than an extra battery, you need to do the big 3.
