Making MP3's??? HELP Please!

Okay i got everything downloaded and up and everything but i just dont know how to load tracks to the thing. Okay stupid question.....your not supposed to put a normal MP3 in there and then it makes that into the better one are you? I thought its just like any other maker, you just select your tracks and then it creates the best MP3 out there.
