i have a possible trade goin on. i'm not too audio savvy. would (2) 10w7-d3's be louder than (1) 13.5w7? i'm putting these in a mustang hatch. a guy over here wants to trade me straight up. is this a good trade? also, what exactly is the "d3" stand for after the 10w7?

I'm no expert on JL gear so I cannot say whether or not it would be a good trade.

Your other question - the "d3" means it has dual 3 Ohm voice coils. (can be parallel wired to 1.5 Ohms or series wired to 6 Ohms)

id take the 10W7's.

more core area.

also...8,10, and 12 W7's are only 3 ohm SVC.

the 13.5 is 1.5 DVC.

HotCarl is right....the 10w7 isn't a dual voice coil driver.

I retract my previous statement....but I sure thought that's what the d3 following the model # should have meant...

i'd stay with the 13w7 in a mustang

the single 13w7 will be louder. IT has almost the same amount of cone area i believe. and alot ALOT more xmax. I think like an extra 10 mm. The 2 w7's will be louder at lower volumes and little more punchier. 2 10w7's have about 120 Sq Cm of Cone the 13 has 108 and 33 mm of xmax. the 10w's only have 23 mm. plus the 13 will get alot louder at lower Freq's
