makes no sense to me

so me and my friend take his system out of his mustang and put it in his 96 ford ranger with the subs in between us but the thing i dont get is the bass is very quite with the windows down but when we open them the bass kicks in and starts to make my ears hurt a bit.why does it do this?

maybe its because the truck is too small and there isnt enough space????

think of it like ur truck cabin is like one big a** box, when u have the windows up it acts as a sealed box but then when u roll the windows down its like ur in a big ported box therfor its louder when u have the windows down
