major electrical problems????

Well im about ready to put in my new amp/subs. The amp is a hifonics 1606d ran @ 1ohm. Rated at 1600 watts, but im going to take it easy on the gains as i only need 1400 or so. I had an infinity 1240 ran off of 300 watts with the gain set properly. At idel, there was a lot of dimming. I have a 91 deville with a 140a stock alternator. That shouldnt be happening, should it? Well im guessing theyre is a bad ground or connection somewhere, hopefully. Im going to do the big 3, but i can only afford 4 gauge. Im guessing it should be fine because the lenght is so short, not much voltage drops can haapen. Does it sound like a bad connection? ANd will 4 gauge be fine for the big 3?

hook it up and give it a whirl. if it dims, do the big 3. if that doesnt work, add 2nd battery. if that doesnt, add an alt.

I guess ill try it, and itll probably dim, so ill do the big 3. Id there that much of a difference between doind it in 4,2, and 1/0guage? Would i loose any voltage doing it with 4 gauge? I dont mind dimming, just it will be rediculous with 1600, i think.

You need to get a longer terminal post. CC or BB will have them, probably **** you in price, but you can find them online for less.

well it will work... any improvement over stock is an improvement... most people just choose to go w/ 1/0 while they're at it... but if 4ga is all u can afford then it will do
