Lows dont sound good

Hey guys,

So i finished building my install finally. And been enjoying it for about a week now.

BUT..... the lower note songs dont sound as good as i had hoped. Moves some air... not as much as i had hoped.

Now im wondering is it because of my box? Is it because of the car? Is it my amp settings?

Subsonic is at around 20hz.

Box tuned to 33hz.

What advice can you give me on making lows sound a bit better?

2x18mayhems

On 7k rms.

I dont see any voltage drop below 13.2volts.

What's the enclosure measurements and port area? Or are they walled? Pics would help too.

I'd say tune lower....like 30Hz or 28.

Everything looks good other then tunning. If u wanna hammer them 20hz notes then tune to 25hz. With my setup my port is tuned to 30hz...it does ok on lows... then I have a external port I can add to drop tunning to about 27hz... that 3hz difference makes a huge difference in my low end,I hammer them lows now. And my upper freq range is still the same. I say u need to tune lower.. every box I have I keep going lower and lower and I get happier and happier.

I couldnt make that fit unfortunately. But is that the reason why the loooowwsss dont sound good?
30hz and above are crazy. But lows just dont impress me.
Firing up makes the 45hz range hit better. Firing rear brings out the lows. I could only play down 25hz firing up. Firing rear i could play down to 17hz and 20 to 29hz is violent

That's not necessarily from where you aim, just the back wall acting as an extension to the port. I can assure you if you added that extra length to the port and fired it up it would sound more or less the same.

OP just needs to tune lower if he wants to play whale songs.

FYI tuning those subs to low will kill output. Tuning lower than f's with a very low qes woofer does nothing good.. Increase port area and you should be fine. You need alto more port area closer to 220.

Yes to breaking them in. Smooth off the corners with soem fiberglass. Also brace your box more. Id seal up your ports and run aeros instead. Then you can have adjustable ports. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
