Lower drinking age to 18?

I wrote a paper (2 papers actually) on why the drinking age should stay 21 instead of 18.

I am 19 and do enjoy drinking but I think it would be ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS to do that after all of the shit I have seen my friends do even though drinking was ILLEGAL, it would be a disaster here in north al with my friends alone if that happened..

in korea... "where my mom is from" drinking is 18... but driving is 21.. and smoking is 16

First of all...

It isn't going to change. So stop your *****ing. You will be 21 soon enough and then you won't care.

Secondly, you wanting to drink and for them to lower the drinking age is a prime example of WHY it shouldn't be done. I have found when I was younger that when people want the drinking age lowered they want the alcohol way too bad and shouldn't probably have it anyway.

Third, the 'world' drinking age is a bit different than what you would think. Most kids who can go into a Pub and get a beer at 18 aren't the kind of people who drink 20 and then drive home. They have one maybe two and walk home.

Forth, there are already TOO many god **** stupid drunk ***** when I go to the bar to have a beer and relax with friends. There is NOTHING that pisses me off more than stupid drunks. And I am willing to be that most 18 year old americans would be "stupid drunks".

I also want to add that Europe's drinking age is mostly 16 because a lotttt less people drive. It costs like 1000 just to get your license and it's an extremely difficult driver's exam. That's why they're allowed to drink. Less people to get killed drinking and driving.

but what of the innocents killed in the overabundance of probable drunken drivers?I believe that the dui rate among u21 persons would drastically increase if 18 yos could legally buy it

The US also has the highest murder rate, it shows how immature and irresponsible americans are. In Europe, most kids are drinking wine by the time they are ten. They however, develop responibility and maturity, and don't drink to get drunk so they can impress there friends and ca.com by showing them just how retarded they can be.


It harms innocent people, and enough alcohol over your life will cause harm to your body.

Drinking itself does not harm innocent people. Being irresponsible while drinking (or not drinking, for that matter) harms innocent people.
What one does to one's self is irrelevant ... For example, I don't think there should be a law against you killing yourself and, in fact, I fully encourage you to do so ...
