Low watt amp sounds louder than higher watt amp

I have 4 gauge wiring going to a rockford fosgate 500 watt mono amp. I recently bought a JL audio jx1000 watt mono amp. I'm powering a rockford fosgate p3 4 ohm wired to 2 ohms. With the same exact connections, the 500 watt amp sounds about the same as the jl audio if not louder. Checked and quadruple checked all my connections. Does anyone have an answer as to why my p3 isn't jumping out of its box on the jl amp?

1: you dont have enough electrical to feed the jl

2: not a clean enough signal line

3: if its a 500 bdcp then the constant power would be louder than the JX which is not a regulated power supply.

depends what Rockford amp. I've owned a few 500watt rockfords and the birth sheet was 800-900 watts. Some of them are little beast.

its the prime series amp, got it like 3 years ago. I'm pretty sure the birth sheet said 650 watts. But i also measured the voltages and both amps are getting 14.4

rf makes good amps is all i can say.. like u said they do more than rated..

The prime only does rated. Birth sheets are dynamic.

If that's the case something is wrong.

It won't be a huge gain but it's a gain.

take a multi-meter and measure your AC Voltage on the JL and rockford..

no, the speaker outputs when you play a 50hz tone. Basically tells you how much wattage you are putting out without a load.

Oh ya?! Love their subs....they can do some damage and then some. I hope you get a custom enclosure for that sub.
