Low volume distortion

Lately (about the last three months) at lower volumes (0-12 on my Kenwood) my subs have been extremely distorted or haven't even played. Last night I completely rewired my harness, soldering it this time as apposed to the butt connectors I used during the install. It fixed a couple problems the head unit was having and helped the distortion a little, but it's still there... what's my next step? Find a new ground for the amp? I checked the fuse holder a week ago and it was burned together and fused...

Some don't have that option. But it does have an internal amplifier otherwise it wouldn't put out the 21x4 it claims to. Check the eq settings...

i did end up getting the amp and subs you suggested, looking forward to hearing what it sounds like as soon as the stuff gets here and the weather...

They are. But, after using sort of them, i think best way is to root phone and do some real system modifications with Viper.
