or a higher spl db? I'm shopping for 1 12" sub 2ohms and i noticed that some subs are 85 spl db there around and others are higher in the 90's. and there is a price difference, ones that are in the 90's are cheaper (a sign?) What have you guys used in a 12" sub w/300w pushing it?

Like Goddy said, usually the higher the db rating the more efficient it will be using your amp. Big subs like XXX's and Brahmas etc...have lower db ratings because they use tons of power but aren't necessarily efficient in doing so. Ones in the 90's are usually cheaper because they can't take as much power as the big ones, but the power they do take they use well.

Not to dig up old school subs but a thought on this since I have some experience here.

Vega series subs when used in a sealed encl. are a very nice SQL not the best but clean enough to make you happy while still beating the hell out of you because they are a higher sensitivity sub.. Not all high spl subs have lower sens. Look around they are out there.. Rangerman may know of a few that wont break the bank and sound good.. Adire makes a few but I have never heard one to compare it with anything.
