low sound from new amp

i just bought a boss 400watt 4 ch. amp...i went through all proper power/ground wiring...just hooked chnls 1 and 2 up to 2 separate new speakers to see if it worked but got little sound coming out....i diconnected the original back speakers too ,so do i need to disconnect all speakers from radio(sony xplode) too? and totally hook all speakers from amp only with new wires?......i bought up to 600 watt amp kit..speaker from that bigger wire is really low too...very little muffled sound from that one too.....tried all settings on radio to no avail.....thought something halfway descent would come out...

Boss is one of the worst companies nowadays. Your "400" watt amp might do 100w clipped

That being said, if you want the speakers amplified, then connect them to the amplifier only. Are you using rca's from your head unit to the amp? Have you adjusted any of the settings?
