Low end filter ever necessary in a large sealed enclosure?

I'm running a 12" TC1000 at 475w rms in a 2 cu ft sealed enclosure. is there any reason to run a low freq filter? The sub should be safe from over-extension in a sealed system, correct? my amp has both a sub-sonic switch and an adjustable filter.

Most of the time it is recomended that you turn off the subsonic filter when using sealed boxes. the only exception I can think of is when you use a sealed box too big for a given woofer, and it is over-excurting. I doubt thoug, that 2 ft^3 is too big.

It's generally not needed w/ a sealed enclosure, but it can provide some benefit. Using the subsonic filter should allow you to turn your gains up a little more without pushing the amplifier into clipping, thus giving you slightly louder bass in the audible regions. However, you're usually looking at 1 dB or less given that there's usually not much content below 20 Hz, so the difference is pretty negligible ...
A subsonic filter has nothing to do with where you have your gains set in relation to the amp clipping. It has everything to do with keeping the woofer from bottoming out. If it doesn't bottom out, there is not need for one.
